Filters for Hospital Industry

Steam filters for hospitals eliminate instrument staining, spotting, and rusting caused by wet or dirty steam. Wrapped articles emerge from the sterilizer cycle drier and cleaner. Filtering hospital steam also results in reduced contamination of sterilizer interiors which in turn cuts down on cleaning time. Maintenance of sterilizer steam control valves, door seals, and other rubber materials is also significantly minimized.

Filters for Dryers for the Food Industry

Steam Filters:  Steam Filters are in full compliance with the requirements of the US Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. These filters may be used with steam, air, and other gases which directly contact food and food ingredients, including milk, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic liquids.

Sterile Air Filters: Stainless Steel Compressed Air Filter Assemblies safeguard your operations from rust, pipe scale, water, oil, and organisms usually found in compressed air.

These filters will remove contaminants at a very high efficiency – up to 99.99% for 0.01 micron particles and droplets. Liquid releases from the filter cartridge to an automatic drain as rapidly as it enters the filter. This allows the filter to continue removing liquids for an unlimited time without loss of efficiency or flow capacity. The final stage of filtration removes all viable organisms with an efficiency rating of 99.9999+% at 0.01 micron. Select 1/4” to 1” line filters are constructed of 304 stainless steel and are designed to hold up to the harshest environments.

Compressed Air Microbial Detection

Compressed air is used in a broad range of applications in the food processing industry, such as mixing of ingredients, cutting, sparging, drying of product, transporting and propelling product through processing systems, and packaging of final product. In many of these applications, compressed air is in direct contact or indirect contact with food product. The impurities in the compressed air may contaminate the food product which can result in a change of colour and taste, reduced shelf life, in addition to exposure to bacteria and other micro-organisms, can result in product recalls.

Parker’s Compressed Air Microbial Test Unit (CAMTU) detection device allows food safety personnel to quickly and easily test for contamination present in compressed air supplies that come in direct contact with food product or food packaging/processing equipment. The CAMTU is portable, weighing less than one pound, and is supplied with connection tubing, shut-off valve, pressure regulator, and metering orifice.

Filters for the Food Industry

Balston Series SR Filters are in full compliance with the requirements of the US Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. They also meet the federal regulations for Indirect Food Additives for use as Basic Components of Repeated Use Food Contact Surfaces as specified in 21 CFR Part 177, and Current Good Manufacturing Practices, 21 CFR Part 110. These filters have been accepted by the USDA for use in federally inspected meat and poultry plants. Balston Steam Filters are in full compliance with the 3A Accepted Practices (Number 609-04) for producing steam of culinary quality. They are also in full compliance with the requirements of the Health Protection Branch of Health and Welfare Canada.

Benefits

Balston Steam Filters eliminate particulate contamination of food products caused by direct contact with dirty steam. Other benefits include:

  • Reduction in steam condensate mixing with food products when steam is used for agitating, mixing, or cooking
  • Eliminate taste and odour problems by reducing boiler feed-water carryover
  • Reduced maintenance requirements.

How it Works

The steam filter contains a patented Microfibre® filter cartridge in a rugged stainless-steel housing designed specifically for steam service.

As shown in the cutaway drawing, steam enters the housing into an expansion chamber, where much of the condensate is knocked out of the steam as a result of the abrupt change in flow direction and velocity. The steam then flows upward in the housing, through the Balston grade SR microfibre filter cartridge (outside-to-inside flow), and then downward to the exit port. The grade SR filter cartridge, rated at 98+% efficiency for 0.1 micron and larger particles, removes essentially all the suspended solid particles and the remaining water droplets. The water draining from the filter cartridge and the expansion chamber is automatically removed from the housing by the automatic condensate drain.

NITROGEN GENERATORS

Parker PSA (pressure swing adsorption) Modular Nitrogen Generators

The unique modular design that is coupled with Parker’s advanced EST (energy saving technology) is at the core of the market leading NITROSource nitrogen gas generator.  It requires less compressed air and generates more nitrogen.

Together with substantially lower servicing costs, reduced downtime and a longer working life, it adds up to the most cost-efficient nitrogen supply available; significantly more affordable than traditional sources, and it delivers huge savings over the lifetime of the generator.

With Energy Saving Technology, low maintenance costs / extensive working life, a five-year warranty, EIGA & FDA compliance, off gas bypass and easy system expansion coupled with over 30 years of experience in the market, and over 50,000 gas generators installed globally, Parker is distinguished as the first choice for innovative and reliable gas generation technology.

Membrane Nitrogen Generators

Nitrogen Generation Systems offer a less expensive, more efficient and reliable alternative to nitrogen gas cylinders, Dewars and bulk nitrogen. Balston Nitrogen Generation Systems utilize the most advanced hollow fibre membrane technology available.

Membrane Nitrogen Generation Systems produce up to 99% pure, commercially sterile nitrogen at dewpoints to -58°F (-50°C) from a compressed air supply.  All systems include a 0.01 micron membrane filter, with an efficiency of 99.9999+%, which ensures the nitrogen is completely free of suspended impurities.

For applications requiring monitoring and controlling, models HFXO Series include an oxygen monitor which offers LED readouts and remote alarm or chart recorder capabilities.  An audible alarm signals high or low oxygen concentrations (determined by the application).  The oxygen monitor is supplied with alarm relay outputs which may be used to signal a remote alarm or close the process flow.

Food & Beverage:

Purity of thenitrogen blanket is User selectable from 95% through to and including 99.9995% and is in compliance with the USA FDA and European Industrial Gas Association.  This will prevent the growth of bacteria and other microbes.  Nitrogen can also be used to purge air from pipes and hoses prior to bottling and to ensure oxygen is not introduced during transport.  Finally, sparging with nitrogen will remove any oxygen or CO2introduced during handling, helping to preserve wine integrity.  A Parker nitrogen generator solution supplies a continuous stream of nitrogen to displace residual oxygen and fill the voids within the package, preserving taste and freshness and extending shelf life.

ANALYTICAL GAS SYSTEMS

Gas generators play a vital role in gas chromatography by substituting compressed air with a preferred gas, typically high-purity nitrogen, hydrogen, or creating a vacuum. Employing pressure swing adsorption, these systems efficiently eliminate oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapour from the selected gas. Following purification, the gas undergoes filtration through high-efficiency coalescing prefilters and a 0.01µm membrane filter.

Certain models are designed to be compact, fitting conveniently within small cabinets or beneath work surfaces. Parker provides on-site, on-demand gas supply solutions, and offers a comprehensive range of analytical and industrial gas generation systems. Nitrogen Gas Generators for industrial applications and Analytical Lab Gas Generators support laboratory equipment and instruments.

Dry, CO2 Free Gas Generators

Dry, CO2 free gas generators supply purge and air bearing gases from compressed air. These gases may be used in a variety of applications, including FT-IR, TOC, NMR and Emissions Test Equipment.

TOC Gas Generators produce carrier/combustion gas, from an existing compressed air supply for TOC instruments. Eliminates the need to purchase expensive, inconvenient, high-pressure cylinders of air, nitrogen, or oxygen.

Hydrogen Gas Generators

Hydrogen gas generators are available in a wide selection of models and configurations. We offer the ultimate combination of safe operation, reliability, high performance, and low cost of ownership. Our hydrogen generators produce a continuous flow of high-purity and ultra-high-purity hydrogen from de-ionized water and electricity. All of our hydrogen generators meet industry standards and are suitable for use in a wide range of applications and markets.

Zero Air Gas Generators

Zero Air Gas Generators produce zero grade air from compressed air through catalytic oxidation. This zero air is used as an oxidant supply to GC-FIDs and as a zero-grade gas supply/zero reference gas for process analytical instruments. Our generators produce zero-grade air with less than 0.05 ppm hydrocarbon content, measured as methane, enabling a more stable baseline as compared to conventional sources of fuel air.

Membrane Gas Separation

Parker’s hollow-fibre membrane modules produce nitrogen and oxygen enriched air from compressed air to offer a cost effective, reliable and safe alternative to traditional cylinder or liquid gas supplies.

The modules can be built into a custom-made generator or can be integrated with your process to provide an on-demand, continuous source of gas.
