Privacy Statement

Davis Controls Limited is committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of your personal information. As part of this commitment, the following Ten Privacy Principles govern our actions as they relate to the use of personal information. The principles are based on the Canadian Standards Association’s Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information.

Principle 1 – Accountability

All employees of Davis Controls Limited are accountable for protection the confidentiality and security of all Personal Information under their control. We have designated an individual to oversee our compliance with the Act and ensure that our ten privacy principles are upheld.

Principle 2 – Identifying Purposes

The primary purpose for which we collect, use and disclose personal information is to serve our customers or potential customers, and to market our products and services, i.e. open accounts for processing transactions for sales or service.

Principle 3 – Consent

Personal information is generally collected through the New Customer Report Form. This form is completed by each new customer therefore consent is implied. Personal Information is also collected through marketing.

Principle 4 – Limiting Collection

The collection of personal information shall be limited to what is necessary for the purposes of establishing an account with credit terms, and for marketing. Information shall be collected by fair and lawful means.

Principle 5 – Limiting Use, Disclosure, Retention

Personal information shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it is collected, except with consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information shall be kept for a minimum of seven years. We destroy paper files with personal information by shredding; we destroy electronic information by deleting it.

Principle 6 – Accuracy

You may review your personal information at any time. If you believe our information is incorrect or obsolete, please let us know and we will amend our files as quickly as possible.

Principle 7 – Safeguards

Personal information is also stored electronically in our software. Safeguards are in place to ensure the electronic information remains confidential.

Principle 8 – Openness

We will make available to you information about our policies and practices relating to the management of Personal Information.

Principle 9 – Individual Access

Access to personal information kept in our database is available to all customers. By applying for a login and password our customers can be provided with access to their company profiles and account transactions.
